Deserted Island List

“Walk in the Shadows” by Queensryche – I first saw this song as a video on some break the cable networks ran back in the day. Their costumes were regal, but what caught my attention was the how melodic their heavy metal sound was. This is easily one of my top five bands, even though the current incarnation has nothing to do with my vision of Queensryche!

“Shot in the Dark” by Ozzy Osbourne – This song just came up on my Pandora channel. I just love the guitar work by Jake E. Lee with this song. It is fresh and instantly lifts my spirits every time I hear the song.

“Malaria” by L.A. Guns – I never get sick of hearing this song. One of the most underrated Glam Metal bands of the late 80’s. The driving guitar riffs increased the speed of my truck every time this song played. By the way, did you know that Tracii Guns is the “Guns” in Guns n Roses?

“Not Strong Enough” by Apocalyptica – This band has an awesome sound and this song has special meaning. Therefore it will always get turned up when it comes up on the iPod.

“Hail to the King” by Avenged Sevenfold – I love the way they layer in the sounds at the beginning of this song. Heavy metal shouldn’t just be about power cords and fast guitar picking. There needs to be some production and melody for it to catch my interest…oh and power!
